Systemic Family Constellations

The Family Constellations method is a scientifically grounded therapeutic approach that effectively helps people improve the quality of their lives and relationships.
The essence of this work is to see what we normally cannot see in our everyday awareness—to shed light on blind love.
As Bert Hellinger says, in family constellations we witness “images that heal the soul.” In just a single session, deep truths about our family and ourselves may be revealed—truths with the potential to heal, transform, liberate, and change the course of our lives for the better. The Family Constellations method is a powerful and unique learning process. It offers valuable insights and a newly expanded awareness.

What is the experience like?

image of people silhouettes standing

The Family Constellations method offers a direct and embodied experience of the larger picture—whether it be familial, national, human, or even planetary. It invites a remembering, a deep emotional awareness, and a sense of connection and belonging that are often inaccessible in everyday life.

It is an opening of the heart—toward those through whom life has come to us: our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and ancestors—our people.

Those for whom life flowed with ease, and those whose fates were heavy.
Those remembered with love, and those who have been forgotten or unspoken. It is an opening of the heart to our story—with everything that has happened in it: the “beautiful” moments and the difficult ones alike.
And with that, an offering of reverence.

Reverence for the fate and dignity of those who came before us.In this space, one comes to the embodied understanding that each person has their own destiny and dignity that belong to them—and the way to honor that is to leave it with them, with respect. From this place, gratitude arises.
Gratitude and openness to the gifts, wisdom, strength, and life energy that flow toward us—the youngest ones—their descendants.

Not through the mind, but through the deeper awareness of the body and soul. This is the “magic” of the method—transforming not through many words, but gently, quietly, through the heart—in Love.

What to expect after a constellation session?

Allow the new image to work within Уou:

It’s not advisable to make quick decisions about the topic right after the constellation—especially if they’re emotionally charged. The new image that has emerged works on a deep level and initiates a process. With time, it will become clear what (if anything) needs to be done.

„If you move too fast, you outrun your soul—and the new image fades away.”
Bert Hellinger

Sometimes things shift without you even noticing—without pressure from the ego:

There’s no need to try to remember everything that happened in the constellation. The images and words that truly touched you will sink in and continue to work at a deeper level.
Most people forget the details entirely—and that’s often a sign that the session was deeply effective. The most valuable part of the process happens beyond thinking.

As a result of the constellation, clients often gain new intuitive and visual perspectives that weren’t accessible before.
People who have seen their family story only through the lens of childhood may suddenly be able to view it through the eyes of an adult—with more understanding, compassion, and clarity.

Formats of the work

The Systemic Family Constellations method (developed by Bert Hellinger) is a relatively young psychotherapeutic approach that initially evolved primarily in the form of group work.

A key aspect of exploring a case through the Systemic Family Constellations method is the use of representatives—participants who stand in for significant figures from the client’s family system, including the client themselves.

What is a representative, and what do you need to know?

benefits of group constellations:

Participating as an observer or representative in other participants’ constellations offers a powerful opportunity to witness the depth and strength of family bonds. It is a unique and deeply valuable experience that broadens your understanding of your own family system.

For those new to the method, group sessions provide time and space to get familiar with how it works. It allows you to gently ease into the process, turn inward, and relax—knowing you are in a safe, supportive environment where all topics, feelings, and experiences are welcome.

WHO IS THIS WORK NOT SUITABLE FOR?

  • Minors (under 18 years of age): Participation requires legal adulthood (18+), as much of the work involves self-awareness and taking responsibility for one’s own actions and life.
  • Pregnant women: The process can often be emotionally intense and is not recommended during pregnancy, due to the sensitivity of both mother and baby during this period.
  • Individuals who have recently experienced trauma and are still in shock: A different type of resourcing or stabilizing work is more appropriate in the early stages. A family constellation may be possible at a later time, once the initial emotional intensity has settled.
  • People in critical physical or mental health conditions, or undergoing heavy medication treatment: In rare cases, a close relative may present a topic on their behalf, but this is considered an exception.

The work takes place in a safe, confidential, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.

Every system has an innate impulse to heal and survive—just like every living organism.
